Life in the Country Lane

-Just some thoughts and words on slowing down, and finding myself.

I am so tired today. It was hot and I mean HOT this weekend. When I was a kid, I hardly ever wore shorts before June, and we never had to use the A/C in the house before the end of June and sometimes not until July or August. What is this 91 degree crap on Memorial Day??

We didn't do anything special this weekend. Went to Wal-Mart and the grocery store on Saturday. Whoopee... Bought the daughter a swim suit. Thank goodness the son's swim trunks still fit him and we didn't have to buy new ones for him. Can you believe a 4 yr old can still wear 2T shorts? No, he is not deprived, or starving.. he is just shaped like a bean-pole. Thank goodness he didn't get my shape (like an apple on 2 celery stalks!)

I have been reading "The Broke Diaries" by Angela Nissel. She is hilarious. Makes me feel better about being broke. Yeah, like you can ever feel good about being broke...

Here is part of a new song by 'the Wreckers'. Although I would substitute the word 'crap' for 'love' in the 4th line of the chorus!!!

And it's alright

Yeah, I'll be fine
Don't worry about this heart of mine
Just, take your love and hit the road
Cause nothing you can do or say
You're gonna break my heart anyway
So just leave the pieces when you go

Now you can drag out the heartache
Baby you can make it quick
You can get it over with and let me move on
Don't concern yourself with this mess you left for me
I can clean it up you see
Just as long as your gone

And it's alright
Yeah, I'll be fine
Don't worry about this heart of mine
Just, take your love and hit the road
Cause nothing you can do or say
You're gonna break my heart anyway
So just leave the pieces when you go

My friends used to say how much I looked like Debralee Scott. I couldn't think what she looked like, and today I 'Googled' her. Holy Cow, that could have been me in high school!! I wanted to post this as my picture in my profile, but I can't figure out how to do it.

Later,

Julie
I SAID: "My psychic abilities are not working today, so can you please tell me who is calling?" to the accounting consultant. Who knew he had such a goofy side? He now calls me the Dalhi Llama, or speaks gibberish whenever he calls in! What fun.
I WANT: A fulfilling job that pays a whole lot more than this one does
I WISH: I could be a stay at home mom.
I HATE: Having to be a bitch to get anyone to help me around the house
I MISS: Sherry
I HEAR: Mr. Loud - He never shuts up, and never shuts his door and always uses his speaker phone.
I WONDER: What my life would have been like if I had gone into the military
I REGRET: Having ever remarried
I AM NOT: stupid, or a ditz
I DANCE: To make my children laugh
I SING: All the time, and sometimes I even get paid for it
I CRY: several times a week. I am really working on this though
I AM NOT ALWAYS: on the internet.. it just seems like it!!
I WRITE: To clear my thoughts
I NEED: to stop eating carmel corn.
I SHOULD: Save more money
I'll START: Planting Green peppers when I get home from work tonight.
I FINISHed: Two of the monstrous piles of work that the accounting department gave to me!!

Yeah, If you're going through hell
Keep on moving, Face that fire
Walk right through it
You might get out
Before the devil even knows you're there

If you're going through hell
Keep on going, Don't slow down
If you're scared, don't show it
You might get out
Before the devil even knows you're there

I don't remember who sings this song, but it has been in my mind for a while. Things in my life are going to get really ugly and hairy, so I am trying to keep this in mind.

I have come to believe that I am in control of my future, and I have to do something to make that future better and brighter for myself and my children.

How does time get away from me? I cannot believe I have not posted in like 10 days or something.

Last weekend, we went to the greenhouse in the country and bought tons of stuff for the yard and garden. The garden is tilled for the second time, and the rose bed is ready for planting. We got 2 rose bushes on Sunday, but they are for the trellis at the front walk. The ferris wheel will be planted in burgandy petunias. Since petunias were so cheap, we bought lots, and I think we might have to till in another flower bed to put them all in.

I really need to get some pictures up. I guess I need to learn how to do that.

A good project for this week.

ARe you snoozing yet?? What a boring blog I have. I hope I can come up with something better soon.

Memorable Quotes from
The Incredibles

Lucius: Honey?
Honey: What?
Lucius: Where's my super suit?
Honey: What?
Lucius: Where - is - my - super - suit?
Honey: I, uh, put it away.
Lucius: Where?
Honey: Why do you need to know?
[helicopter explodes outside]
Lucius: I need it!
[Lucius rummages through another room in his condo]
Honey: Uh-uh! Don't you think about running off doing no derrin'-do. We've been planning this dinner for two months!
Lucius: The public is in danger!
Honey: My evening's in danger!
Lucius: You tell me where my suit is, woman! We are talking about the greater good!
Honey: 'Greater good?' I am your wife! I'm the greatest *good* you are ever gonna get!

I love this exchange. The last line especially!! Who has the nerve to tell their spouse that they are the "greatest good"

HAHA... Love it!!
